Reeds Model Engineering was formed in the late 1940s, part of the sports and social club of Reeds Paper Mill in Aylesford, Kent. Over the years, the mill changed hands a number of times, eventually ending up with SCA, and forming the basis of one of the largest newsprint mills in Europe. Meanwhile, the social club has become effectively independent, although it still keeps its links with the mill owners, from whom it leases the land.

Today, Cobdown Sports and Social Club supports over 1700 members whose various interests include football, cricket, squash, bowls, art and model engineering. This web site illustrates the current activities of the Model Engineering Section.

The club is actively looking for new members who want to learn more about railway modelling, or can bring new skills to the group. For more information about Cobdown Model Club, please contact the Club Secretary, Brian Longhurst, using this email link.
